Geneva Stadium saw an unbelievable comeback by the Turkish team, who was down 2-0 with only 15 minutes left in the match. The Czechs opened the match with attacking style and Jan Koller scored the first goal in the 34th minute from a header. Turks looked passive and were defending most of the time. In the second half unfortunately for the Czechs it was different ballgame. The Turkish team put them under constant pressure, but the Czechs somehow managed to score their second goal , leading 2-0 . Than Turkey staged a comeback scoring three goals within 15 minutes. First Arda Turan scored in the 75th minute, than captain Nihat Kahveci tied it off and added the winning goal in the 88th minute. The Czech team lost a won match and are going home, while Turkey will face Croatia in the quarterfinals.
At Stade de Geneve, Geneva, Turkey defeated Czech Republic 3-2 in a really futbolistic feat and qualified at EURO 2008 quarterfinals.
Jan Koller scored in the 34th minute. Before this goal, Sionko was the most dangerous player, while Turkey never could attack.
In the second half Turkey must attack with more players, but Plasil scored and the match was a Czech party. By the way, Arda Turan and Nihat Kahveci, twice, provocated the Turkish glory.
in Euro 2008: A different view of the most important football tournament of the year.
And Turkey have a chance. And a rather brilliant one at that, when usually rock solid Cech lets a ball slip out of his hands, and Nihat reacts first to slot the ball in to the empty net. Truly remarkable football, and everyone is suddenly choosing who will take penalties.
But then, another shock, when Turkey score their third goal in fifteen minutes! Nihat receiving a through ball before running through to the edge of the penalty area before picking his spot in the top corner, giving Petr Cech no chance. Unbelievable football, no one can quite believe it.
And for our turkish friends:
Ve Türk’ün gücü bu! A Milli Futbol Takimimiz, Çek Cumhuriyeti’ni 3-2 maglup ederek adini çeyrek finale yazdirdi.

The Czech Republic opened Euro 2008 with a 1-0 win against co-hosts Switzerland in Basel. A goal from substitute Sverkos was enough to seal the win although a spirited Swiss side had chances to equalise, despite losing Alexander Frei to injury in the first half.
in Redevil
The home fans were willing the nation on with feisty fanfare but their team failed to respond in kind. Plenty of effort and enterprise was on display but Switzerland offered little in attack against a truly disappointing Czech Republic side.
Limited by their poor crossing and long-range passing, Kobi Kuhn’s team had plenty of possession but failed to consistently trouble the opposition’s defence who dealt masterfully with the majority of what was thrown at them.
Approximately one hour ago, the first match of this year’s European Championships Football finished; the host country, Switzerland, lost to the Czech Republic. The Czechs beat the Swiss by 1 goal; 0-1. The scorer of the one and only goal is Vaclav Sverkos.
